Film made with one single shot is a unique formula and method of work that we are constantly developing. This time we have made a film dedicated to the great composer from Poznań – Krzysztof KOMEDA Trzciński. And this means that one of the most important roles in our project was played by the jazz music of the musician from Poznań.
Mastershot film workshops took place at the Blue Note Club on the last weekend of November. Abou one hundreds of participants took part in the film set – extras, actors, musicians, a crew of filmmakers from Poznań – all of us a passion for film and music connects.
We spent the first day at the University of Arts in Poznań and we discussed the script with the participants, we planned production and organized work within individual divisions: cinematography, director, stage design and costumes, production, lighting and sound.
The next day – rehearsals. At the film location – a jazz Club Blue Note and at Acedemy of Music in Poznań. Music played one of the main roles in our film – that’s is why we also invited jazz musicians to participate in our project. They had organized a music rehearsal before the next day when the film set took place.
On the third day, the crew of filmmakers, musicians and participants made the film using only one shot at the Blue Note Jazz Club in Poznań. The working title is: “Komeda in Poznań”. So far, no feature film about Krzysztof Komeda has been ever made, not even short, not to mention the film made only in one shot.
One of Komeda’s popular songs – Crazy Girl was used in the soundtrack. It comes from another well-known Polish movie “Knife in the Water” (“Cul-de-Sac”) directed by Roman Polanski. We could use that piece of music thanks to the kindness of the heirs. Perfect organization, efficient cooperation and real chemistry, which was created between all people involved in this project meant that the workshop was a source of great inspiration and knowledge for participants At the same time the project strongly integrated Poznan filmmakers.
We’de like to thank you to the Blue Note Club, Patryk Piłasiewicz and musicians from the Poznań Academy of Music, the city of Poznań and all participants, partners supporting our project.
